Permafrost access at a glance
Permafrost is available in Early Access for Windows PC on Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store, with solo play and online co-op for up to four players. The US Steam base game costs US$19.99 as of October 13, 2026; compare your PC with the requirements below before buying.
Release date and Early Access roadmap
- What is the current Permafrost release or roadmap status?
- Permafrost entered Early Access on Windows PC on October 9, 2026. The developer expects Early Access to last at least 12 months and has not announced a definite 1.0 release date. The roadmap describes four planned updates, including combat and inventory improvements, expanded weapon crafting, a demolition-focused sledgehammer and a later White Hell biome. Additional biomes, quests, enemies, equipment and vehicles are planned.
PC storefronts, consoles and mobile options
- Which platforms and storefronts currently support Permafrost?
- Permafrost from SpaceRocket Games, published by Toplitz Productions, is available for Windows PC through Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store. The Steam version also lists Steam Cloud and Steam Achievements. Open the matching Permafrost product page on your preferred store before purchasing.
- Which mobile options exist for Permafrost, and which product do they belong to?
- The SpaceRocket Games and Toplitz Productions game is currently listed for Windows PC rather than as a native Android or iOS release. Steam Link lets you stream a purchased Steam game from a running PC to a compatible phone. This is a streaming setup, not a standalone mobile installation. Use the Steam Remote Play page to explore that option.
- Is PermaFrostMobile.apk the Android version of this game?
- PermaFrostMobile.apk belongs to Permafrost Arena, a separate 2D pixel-art game by Uniytheds Team. It is a different product from the SpaceRocket Games and Toplitz Productions survival game. If you want to play the Steam survival game on a compatible phone, look at Steam Link streaming.
Co-op limits and how to join friends
- Does Permafrost support multiplayer or co-op, and how many players can play together?
- Yes, Permafrost supports online co-op for up to four people total: a host and up to three friends. You can also play alone. In co-op, your group can build shelter networks, divide responsibilities and play to each other's strengths.
- How do I host a world or join a friend's session?
- From the main menu, choose Play → Host Multiplayer to create a co-op world. Choose Play → Join Multiplayer Sessions to enter a friend's session. Guests can join only after the host has reached the cabin. For Steam friend-list or chat invitations, the joining player must already have the game open at its main menu.

- How much does Permafrost cost, and is any version free?
- Permafrost is paid, with the base game priced at US$19.99 on US Steam as of October 13, 2026. That is a 20% introductory discount from US$24.99, with the offer ending October 23. The launch announcement specifies custom regional pricing, so check the price in your own store region. Setup checks before launching or joining
- Install current GPU drivers before launching; the developer recommends this for crashes and performance issues.
- Keep a keyboard and mouse available if you plan to use a controller. Steam lists partial controller support, and controller crafting is listed as not working yet.
- Use Windows for official platform support. Linux/Proton is not officially supported, and the developer cannot guarantee crash fixes there.
- If multiplayer is greyed out or reports an invalid or missing authentication token, make sure Steam is online and turn off your VPN.
Where to start if the game crashes at launch
If you cannot reach video settings, the developer suggests trying -dx11 in Steam launch options. When the menu is accessible, suggested crash workarounds include turning off Multi-Frame-Generation-Type and Super Resolution and lowering the quality preset. Open the pinned Bug Reporting fixes or Known Issues & Workarounds for further help.
